Obituary

Sir Oliver Seikel 
passed away suddenly on June 22, 2018, 
aged 80 years young, 
beloved husband of Meredith (nee Miller), 
devoted son of the late Herman W. and Josephine (nee Weaver), 
survived by many loving cousins and dear friends. 

Oliver was a graduate of 
Gilmour Academy, 
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and 
the University of Michigan Law School, 
following which he did post graduate legal studies at the University of Hamburg, Germany. 
Oliver then entered the legal profession and for many years was General Counsel and Secretary of Bearings, Inc., 
before returning to private practice last with McDonald Hopkins. 
In 1996-97 he was a volunteer for the American Bar Assn. in Sofia Bulgaria. 

Among others he was a 
Trustee of Gilmour Academy, 
Trustee of the Canal Society of Ohio, 
member of the Rowfant Club and 
active member of the Community of St. Peter. 

He was devoted to helping others, esp. with education and 
was an advocate for cyclists, greenways, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, 
European Greenways, of which he was one of the founders, and the preservation of Ohio Canals.

Relatives and friends are invited to 
attend a Mass of Christian Burial 
Saturday, July 14, 2018
 at the Community of St. Peter, 
7100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH (44103) at 11 AM.

 Following the Mass, 
a reception to celebrate the life of Oliver will be held at 
Judson Manor, 
1890 E. 107th St., Cleveland (44106).

 Private burial in St. Joseph Cemetery (Dover, OH).
